Berkeley Lake, Georgia, formerly a summer retreat of fishing cabins, is a small community of 2000+, in around eight neighborhoods of lake homes. It offers green space, views of the town's namesake 88-acre lake, events like the Sunday Kind of Groove Concert Series, the annual Independence Day Celebration and conveniences to the top-end perimeter (I-285) just a little over seven miles away.
The area has been committed to controlled, wise growth since incorporating in 1956 when the residents sought electricity, phone lines and other amenities. Since that time, the Western Gwinnett County Community between Duluth and Peachtree Corners has held designations as an Urban Wildlife Sanctuary and Tree City USA since 1999 which recently included the Growth Award.
